Do you see updates like this on Facebook?
Every day, thousands of poorly written, copied statuses are posted on Facebook. Copied statuses suffer the worst fate of having no creativity, and they are often ignored. 90% of people won’t post these updates. Post this status and take a stand.
Ugh. I despise those updates.
Way to suck the fun out of Facebook.
I get it that there are causes you support and want to raise awareness about. We all have similar passion for issues that move us. But Facebook, Twitter, or whatever social network gives you the chance to use your own words and creativity to share your experience.
Don’t just parrot the words of others. Use this unique opportunity to change hearts and minds with your story. Why do you believe in this cause? Why should I? What can we do to make a difference besides mindlessly updating our Facebook status that only a limited network will see?
Real change requires real action. Posting to Facebook is a step, but it’s a very minor step towards real change.
So stop copying other people’s crappy statuses, shut your laptop, and get to work making a difference in the things you believe in.
How will you make this crappy world a better place?
No one really cares about your cause and they don’t want to be guilted into posting about your cause because you dared called out anyone who doesn’t do your bidding. Post this is in your status if you don’t want to be pushed into posting someone else’s message on your status.
I’ll post that later today.
Posted the post.
Wow.., you have an uncanny way of putting things.., luckily for me I agree (mostly) with you.
And you do seem to get to the topics that really do bother me.. These updates are annoying..,especially the guild trip at the end…
Well.., I’m gonna go now and do something…
I try to write about only the topics that bother me. I figure someone else has to be bothered too.
I won’t be reposting this on Twitter or Facebook
because that would be exactly what you hate
and you say “sucks.” Too bad for you!
I never said not to increase my traffic.
Share this status message and save a starving kid in Africa.
Oh really? They’ll see this?! NO WAY.
I wish my Facebook status could save starving kids in Africa.
It’s a pity that most of my contacts can’t speak English.
I wish I had the time to translate my stuff into other langauges.
Repost this if you wish Jay had time to translate his stuff into other languages.
Oh lord. Do you really want me translating?
I guess you haven’t heard. Google will do it for you!
But it doesn’t do a good job.
The arabic is pretty: الببغاء لا مجرد كلمات الآخرين. استخدام هذه فرصة فريدة لتغيير قلوب وعقول مع قصتك. لماذا نعتقد في هذه القضية؟ إذا لماذا أنا؟ ما الذي يمكننا القيام به لإحداث فرق الى جانب استكمال بغفلة مركزنا الفيسبوك مع شبكة محدودة وهذا سوف نرى فقط؟
Agreed. People should be original. If you haven’t got anything of any value to say, don’t say anything.
im guilty of reposts (perhaps once or twice i did it) but guess, what they’re worth reposting but i hate those chain messages being posted and reposted…and the overused quotes you probably have read in you news feed within 24 hrs.
Copied Facebook statuses enrage me. The worst part is the passive-aggressive line at the end that says something like “I bet I know who won’t repost this. I’ll be watching to see if you do” with its implication that if I don’t repost, I am a terrible person who wants puppies to die, small children to die of cancer, or whatever the cause of the day is.
Some time ago, I wrote a post reminding all my Facebook friends that I had never reposted any Facebook chain messages and yet there had been no retribution. I said since they all were watching so hard to see who didn’t repost, I can only assume they meant to unfriend me but forgot by accident, so maybe they should do it now.
Nobody unfriended me. On the other hand, they didn’t stop posting their daily guiltspam, either.
